I thought it was a nice idea to put our specs down here. I hope it isn't in another category allready. Still haven't found the time to browse the whole forum...

Fuck techsupport, time to show off!
Yall know I've been away for a while, my gaming computer (which was crap) died... I am now getting a new one, we ordered it last night.

Corsair Carbide 200R
Cooler Master V750S, 750W PSU
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming, Socket-1150
Intel Core i7-4770K
Corsair H55 Hydro Series CPU Cooler
Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600Mhz 8GB RED
MSI GeForce GTX 770 Gaming 2GB PhysX
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB BK OEM
Samsung DVD Writer, SH-224DB

Managed to get a great 1hr deal, which let me buy an i7 instead of an i5 in this configuration, yet resulting in an €150 cheaper computer. Woot woot. :D Total saved? closer to €350, counting what I would have paid full price for these parts.

HDD1: Intel 120GB 520-series SSD
HDD2: WD Black 1TB
Display: Some old samsung 22" LED
Speakers: Some logitech 5.1-s

What kind of fps do you all get in large wvw blobs with those specs? My PC is due an update probably at the back end of this year so I'm looking into what to get, already got some parts... mobo, ssd, hdd, ram & case, looking at processor and I know gw2 is heavy on processor so does i7 make much of a difference over i5? Gfx I was thinking of r9 290x or will my 560gtx ti be fine and get upgrade later?
Have a nice day :)

Hey everyone!

I am currently thinking about buying an FX 6300 with six cores. I dont know much about the CPU, beside that it should be the best for that price, and that alot of games don't use six cores yet, so it should handle almost every game very well. Is it good, or simply more or less mediocre?
(Should be noted that my budget are kind of low).

As I mentioned in the guild chat, I'm not too informed on AMD CPUs. Therefore, I don't have any specific recommendations in terms of products. The FX 6300 might be an excellent choice; I don't know.

But conceptually speaking, as you point out, games aren't particularly good at efficiently utilizing a high amount of cores. More cores might not be so much of a future investment. Instead, you'd be better off looking at single-core performance.

If what you're interested in isn't using the extra cores, then they don't provide much, right? :)

Instead, that money could potentially be put towards a CPU with better performance of cores that do carry the work (games).

ASUS A52J notebook
Intel i5 M430 2.27Ghz
6GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145
Ergonomic mouse

This 7yrs old unit died on me last friday so I've bought a new laptop for light gaming pleasure as well as the usual things. I'll probably be busy rediscovering the game now that I can run with higher (/highest?) graphics loaded. Plus.. maybe even a raid or WvW without frozen screen.. :-X

ASUS ROG GL series
Intel i5-6300HQ
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M (2 GB)
1 TB HDD + 500GB SSD
Ergonomic mouse
