Heh same here, once there's a mention of a subscription fee I instantly lose my interest :p

You know what would be interresting? If they sold the new game for the same price of one monthly subscription. At least that would be fair.

Anyway, I probably will be playing it, since my short stop in FFXIV did not work out. ^^

Hm, I just can't get to like the fact that it will be subscription based. It would make me feel forced to play.

I actually like that they are doing this, it's kind of gutsy nowadays. And their stated reason was "no, cash shops do not fit into our world". I absolutely applaud that attitude - and yes, they could make more money in an f2p model.

Wei Yan, is it under NDA or are you free to talk about the experience? I'd like to hear details next week...

Well, Cash Shops which make a game pay2win certainly are a bad thing. But cash shops like the one in Guild Wars 2 aren't bad at all.

If I am forced to pay to play, I will always feel bad if I don't get to play as much as usual for a while, or if I just feel like taking a little break (even if just a few days or so). I would always feel like I'm wasting money right now, because I'm paying for something I'm not using.

Also, paying like 15 Euros each month (that's 180 in a year) just to be able to play a game I've actually bought somewhere, leaves a bit of a bad feeling. Spending 20, 50 , 100 or even 200 in a year to get some skins or some convenience items feels a lot better, because I actually get something in ADDITION to just being able to play.

And yes, I understand the concept of new stuff being added and such, thus the subscription fee. But that would be like... the content of a whole new game every 4 months? I doubt they'll release that much new stuff. And I bet you'll have to pay extra for expansions.

As I said, free to play makes more money. So the decision was not a financial one.

So far I have talked to 3 people who have access to the beta and thus far they are all three in agreement that the game is not worth it.
Most common complaint is: It plays like on a console, several combat aspects are lacking, character models are strange and do not fit into the world and one of them even said that the game was a step down from skyrim.

Anyone with some other impressions of the game?

Know 2 people who could play the beta, and they stopped after only a few hours. Things I hear is that while the battle mechanics are notable, they are badly implemented resulting in clunky gameplay. Just as that even on a strong machine, the Graphics are oblivion quality (without mods) and thats a bit too far back for this day and age.

It just became a generic MMO. Not just a step down from Skyrim. But from TES itself.

What also makes it worse is monthly payments on something that is only worth a few hours of play... I just hope they are not planning on releasing this early. Because there is a lot to be done.
Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!!! Just sayin'

I actually rather enjoyed it. It definitly needs some more work and polishing, but they have 3 more months for that. The only thing missing for me was a serious step down in interactivity with the environment and inability to loot everything on an enemy, something that I very much enjoyed in the previous TES installments.

I will once I get my PS4, but that might still take a while.
