A Song of Fire and Ice: A Dance with Dragons. Half way through, don't spoil anything!
For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

A Short History of Nearly Everything, by Bill Bryson

It's an explication of general sciency stuff in layman's terms, with lots of funny facts in between. Entertaining read, and you actually learn a few things too!

Rework
"Most business books give you the same old advice: Write a business plan, study the competition, seek investors, yadda yadda. If you're looking for a book like that, put this one back on the shelf."

Non-fiction. ;) More of a self help book for entrepreneurs I guess.

As my first post on this forum, I'll give a recommendation to Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
I'm currently reading the 2nd in the series, The Wise Man's Fear, and I can't recommend them enough.

I do have to second that! Almost done with the second book myself. The books are well written and most enjoyable!

I'm reading the Guild Wars 2 manual, the one they offer on the website. And beside lots of professional books, I read everything Charles Stross writes and publishes on Kindle, both the Accelerando series and Laundry and Merchant Family.

I'm also a big fan of Roger Zelazny, the Amber chronicles of course and other books like Donnerjack, the short stories (This Mortal Mountain, The Man Who Loved The Faioli, etc).

And Terry Pratchett, not just the Discworld series but other stuff too.

And Iain M Banks, the Culture series are exceptionally good, if you like sci-fi.

Ah, and Dan Simmons, the Hyperion Cantos.

And if you know any other good sci-fi, lemme know. ;)
Good-bye, and hello.

A Short History of Nearly Everything, by Bill Bryson

I stopped reading this, because it didn't really bring anything new to the table (I blame my engineering degree for already knowing most of the stuff that's mentioned).

I started reading Consider Phlebas by Ian Banks, and I'm loving it. People claims the next books in the series are even better, so I'm looking forward to finishing it and moving on to the next.
