Probably the only game that might drive me away from GW2. Mother of god, if they can implement the gameplay from Morrowind in an online multiplayer world... The result could be both epic and completely horrible.

Alternative playstyle/other char: Maybe a breton summoner with heals would be awesome! need to wait and see what kind of options are in store for us.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys are planning.

its gone already :(.
-
Signed up as well.
I'm currently beta-testing Firefall and despite the bugs it's addictive and lots of fun. What is not fun though, is when the devs suddenly decide to completely redo a big part of the game like crafting. The brain hates that. But still it's better compared to waiting a few years for the public release.

> > What advantages do you get from doing things on the tech side the way that you are now?
> When you control the technical platform that you are developing on – by writing it yourself – you get to make all the decisions, and ensure that all features are developed with your game in mind. This makes things tighter and more stable.
They're doing their own engine again. Judging by previous TES games, it should be crap.
The only aesthetically pleasing game from Bethesda I've seen is Dishonoured and that's Unreal Engine.
Well, could only wish them luck.

Seems whole lot of people is planning to play this, that's nice i'm gonna go there as well beta or not beta, i've been waiting that from 2001 so yeah time to move when it finally comes out. Luckily i see most of you are gonna play an orc which is very good, since i'll play either an orc or a red guard. Which were the 2 races i played back in the day in morrowind, oblivion ad skyrim as well.
The idea of making a DW division for it, sounds interesting, however as always i wont do any pvp, i'll just focus on PvE like i've been doing for the past 8 years in all mmo's pretty much.
So looking forward the beta for now, and for the game after. ( Btw if you liked The elder scrolls story and lores you may wanna watch this video, and if you don't know it very well, it's good to watch anyway cause it'll give you an overall or what TESO will be about, http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/media/videos/477 (http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/media/videos/477) )
-
TY for the vid chaos ^_^
this game will bring me much joy

Oh wow, I'm necro-ing. It's still on top, though. :P
21 Reasons to be Interested in The Elder Scrolls Online ~ShoddyCast~ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8luBc0X3vIg#ws)
I do think that it will probably be extremely awesome. But I also fear that I will be at war with myself to decide what I'm playing... GW2 or ESO. I'm not sure if I'll be able to manage playing both. Though, I'd like to. Uff. So somehow, I secretely hope it takes another year until ESO comes out, just so I don't have to think about difficult stuff like this. xD ^^
Not even mentioning that I still need to finally play Skyrim "through"... well, at least all the quests (including the main quest/s) I'd like to do and stuff.
So uhm, this topic was kinda abandoned here, but I guess some of you are still interested in it?
-
When they announced that it would be ported to console I kind of lost interest.
-
So, are they not making it available for PC players at some point in the future? >:( I've not been around lately cos I've actually been playing Skyrim - didn't much like the ball and chain relationship with Steam, but this is even worse.

Wow what? Where did you hear that the PC is not the main plataform?
I'm pretty sure the game is for PC, and then there is a a PS4 and XBOX1 console port.
Not making the PC the main plataform is madness, I mean, this is TES, it's a frickin PC game!

Couldn't agree more. I've been with TES since Baldur's Gate. :-[ My bad though - I didn't read Mal's comment properly before hitting ten thousand feet. See: http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2013/06/10/eso-on-next-gen-consoles-and-new-gameplay-trailer. (http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2013/06/10/eso-on-next-gen-consoles-and-new-gameplay-trailer.) It's on PS4 and Xbox1 as well as PC and Mac.
-
I did not say that it would not be available for PC, but the fact that you will get it for consoles will make gameplay on the computer worse then it could be. After all you need to dum down the controls so they fit with console controllers.
-
Though TES online do say that the game will be on different servers for PC and console gamers, so a PC gamer will never meet an Xbox player..
-
Yupp yupp. Xbox-players will only be able to play with other Xbox-players, and PS4-players will also only play together with other people who play it on PS4. Just PC and Mac will play together.
Also, there's apparently gonna be a subscrition fee of around 15 dollars each month; starting after the first month after you've activated your account.
Also, I don't really see why controls would need to be dumbed down. Take Skyrim as an example... you've got more hotkeys on PC than on console; on the other hand lockpicking is a bit harder on PC since you can't control the speed with which the lock rotates. I don't really feel like the controls of Skyrim are dumber than those of Guild Wars 2.
-
The elder scrolls till now have 1 mayor fault in my opinion related to pc vs console. The controls in the standard menu are aweful on pc and a lot is lacking in the inventory that a inventory should have in a game like that on pc.
You yust know that that was done for the consoles.
Though you would have mods in the single player tes games. they really need something better for the pc in tes online.
-

I agree. Well, they did say something like that while mods won't be possible in the beginning, they might make it possible for people to make (and use) UI-mods for example. Nothing written in stone yet, though. It's just a possibility.

This is exactly my point. If you make a game playable on a console the result is a dummed down version of what it could have been for a PC, in the end it does not matter if they created it as a PC exclusive game to begin with, the PC version will still be playable like a cheap console port.

Release date announced! *squeek*
-
So yes, release date announced. Who are interested in a DW division for this game?
Old and new members alike.
You'll get your own sub forum and everything! Separate leaders and officer from GW2.
- Sent from my phone, bitches!
-
Hm, I just can't get to like the fact that it will be subscription based. It would make me feel forced to play.
-
Heh same here, once there's a mention of a subscription fee I instantly lose my interest :p
-
You know what would be interresting? If they sold the new game for the same price of one monthly subscription. At least that would be fair.
Anyway, I probably will be playing it, since my short stop in FFXIV did not work out. ^^
-
Got my Beta Key today for this weekend! Client downloaded and can't wait :D
-
Have fun! ^^
-
Hm, I just can't get to like the fact that it will be subscription based. It would make me feel forced to play.
I actually like that they are doing this, it's kind of gutsy nowadays. And their stated reason was "no, cash shops do not fit into our world". I absolutely applaud that attitude - and yes, they could make more money in an f2p model.
Wei Yan, is it under NDA or are you free to talk about the experience? I'd like to hear details next week...
-
Well, Cash Shops which make a game pay2win certainly are a bad thing. But cash shops like the one in Guild Wars 2 aren't bad at all.
If I am forced to pay to play, I will always feel bad if I don't get to play as much as usual for a while, or if I just feel like taking a little break (even if just a few days or so). I would always feel like I'm wasting money right now, because I'm paying for something I'm not using.
Also, paying like 15 Euros each month (that's 180 in a year) just to be able to play a game I've actually bought somewhere, leaves a bit of a bad feeling. Spending 20, 50 , 100 or even 200 in a year to get some skins or some convenience items feels a lot better, because I actually get something in ADDITION to just being able to play.
And yes, I understand the concept of new stuff being added and such, thus the subscription fee. But that would be like... the content of a whole new game every 4 months? I doubt they'll release that much new stuff. And I bet you'll have to pay extra for expansions.
-
As I said, free to play makes more money. So the decision was not a financial one.
-
I'm with you on all points, Saturn; couldn't agree more.
-
So far I have talked to 3 people who have access to the beta and thus far they are all three in agreement that the game is not worth it.
Most common complaint is: It plays like on a console, several combat aspects are lacking, character models are strange and do not fit into the world and one of them even said that the game was a step down from skyrim.
Anyone with some other impressions of the game?
-
Know 2 people who could play the beta, and they stopped after only a few hours. Things I hear is that while the battle mechanics are notable, they are badly implemented resulting in clunky gameplay. Just as that even on a strong machine, the Graphics are oblivion quality (without mods) and thats a bit too far back for this day and age.
It just became a generic MMO. Not just a step down from Skyrim. But from TES itself.
What also makes it worse is monthly payments on something that is only worth a few hours of play... I just hope they are not planning on releasing this early. Because there is a lot to be done.
-
I actually rather enjoyed it. It definitly needs some more work and polishing, but they have 3 more months for that. The only thing missing for me was a serious step down in interactivity with the environment and inability to loot everything on an enemy, something that I very much enjoyed in the previous TES installments.
-
dug up an old thread, but is anyone playing it on the EU side?

I will once I get my PS4, but that might still take a while.
-
NOOOO!! MMO on a PS4? :(
-
Will the Computer + ps4 even share servers?
-
Will the Computer + ps4 even share servers?
Probably won't happen.
Patches on the PS4 need to be pre-approved and tested by Sony (if a certain patch causes overheating, they've got claims up their asses), so they take a long time. Whereas patches for the PC are released immediately (thanks to the "as-is clause").
Not to mention that keyboard+mouse is proven to more responsive than a gamepad, even in MMO's.
-
Yeah, that's what I thought.
-
Actually (at least that's what they've announced quite a while ago), even the different consoles will play separately. Like, Xbox only plays with Xbox, and PS only with PS. PC and Mac will play together, though.
-
The console version has been delayed. To those who were expecting to play in June: WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!! :D
-
WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!! :D
He/she might be keeping them from having to deal with the worst bugs and stuff. ;)

I hear it's gotten better, but it's still nothing like Oblivion or Skyrim or whatever me thinks.
-
since the game got B2P i decided to give it atry again. The game has inproved alot and is fun. So i was wondering if anyone i playing it and or there is a guild in the game?
