I (and I guess alot of others) have some invites I don't know what to do with :P
Do you want to try the game and not have to wait for it? Go ahead and ask for one :)
I've never played actively and probably never will, so can't help you getting into it (since it's kinda complicated)
Try out some heroes against some bots if you don't want to make a fool of yourself ^^
Use this link (http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/guides (http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/guides)) for some good advice on your hearo of choice

I'm looking into playing LoL with my little brother, are you saying I should play this instead?
-
I'm saying that you could, alot of ppl prefere LoL, but most of them have never tried DotA ^^
I've tried both and prefere DotA, but that's me.
LoL is a bit easier to learn though since it has less mechanics, so less stuff you have to be good at, like football (running, kicking, teamplay).
Also, LoL has a bigger player base since it was first to attack the free market in this genre and has been out for a while, while DotA2 is still in beta.

Yes please, me and my little brother want a key each. :)
-
I also have a boatload of invites. Drop me a PM if you'd like one. And feel free to add me on steam if you wanna play :)
-
I also have crazy amounts of those invites.
-
I too have a lot of DOTA 2 keys if anyone wants one... It's hard to get rid of them.
-
While DotA2 is closely related to LoL, it comes with the added difficulty of being able to kill your own mobs (to deny the enemy from getting kills), and no free home-teleports.
I'm more used to the HoN-userbase (which is pretty much the easy-to-run version of DotA2), but I still think a fair "you will get yelled at if you're not playing perfectly"-warning is in place.
These games are bloody hard to get into, but you should not quit because someone is telling you to uninstall the game, and kill yourself. Keep at it, try to have fun :)

I guess I can try it out if someone have an invite =)
-
Oh Himi, I found the invites :)
Thanks... I pay no attention to my steam account apparently. ;) Sent the 2nd one to my brothere.
-
Feel free to add me on steam.

No invite needed anymore :) Everyone can just download it.
Even as a old DotA fan from WC3 i must say i perfer lol. It was so much harder to get a overview on what happened and i got used to the colorful lol UI so DotA 2 was just a dark hazzle for me. But it was fun to see and remember the good old champs again
