just watched the hobbit myself, took it in two parts watched the first part yesterday and the last one today, good movie, but I have sadly not yet read the book, though I must say I did not enjoy reading LotR.

I loved LotR, but I also believe I might have been in "just the right place" in life to read it. Who knows.

My experience reading LotR was more chore than enjoyment, to my disappointment. Still, I soldiered through.

I did enjoy The Hobbit much more, although it has been about ten years since I've read it. Still need to see the film at some point...

I enjoyed LOTR, but I did read it when I was like 15 years old. I tried reading the hobbit last year (before the movie came out) but I gave up after ~100 pages because it's just terribly boring. Guess I've been spoiled with better fantasy literature since reading LOTR :D

When 2 of the most active spammers go away together for a few days this is what happens? ;) And you guys call yourself spammers, you should be ashamed :D

I don't remember half of the movie. SOMEBODY kept distracting me. ^^

An interesting fact is that if you try reading LotR in the swedish edition translated by a man named Ohlmarks, you don't actually read LotR... He "interpreted it" and changed quite a lot.  Ohlmarks was part of the reason the "Guide to the Names in The Lord of the Rings" was published.

I actually read my first lotr in swedish, by that translation, and I still loved it :P
I think people are overreacting to that. ;)

Don't get me wrong, it's a great book, but it's not the same book as Tolkien wrote :)

But I suppose I'm a bit more conscious (and cranky) about such things since I'll soon be a translator myself ^^
